“I just hope we don't get lost.”
Team QUATORZE didn't spend hours refining their itinerary. No reconnaissance, no kilometer-by-kilometer breakdown. Just a general idea of the route, a few key points, and the desire to get started. 108.2 kilometers, 5,964 m of elevation gain, two days to connect Annecy to Chamonix, trusting the terrain as much as the group's momentum.
The start is fluid. The group advances in a balanced manner, without tension. The weather is unpredictable, the terrain muddy, and the trail sometimes unclear. They hesitate, recover, but never tense up. Several times, they deviate from their initial route, but always with lucidity. They arrive at the refuge after 75 km, tired but steady.
Read the pitch as it comes
Despite a team member's injury, the second day begins with the same tone. Less improvisation, more continuity. The climb to the Aiguillettes des Houches is a beautifully cohesive affair. The pace remains simple and steady. The team reaches Chamonix united, with a clear and controlled joy. No feat, no failure. Just a crossing experienced as it was meant to be.
Day 2. New light at Lac de Passy. Their bodies are scarred, but their desire remains intact. They resume their progress without rushing, until the final climb to Chamonix via Les Houches. The terrain becomes rocky, the movements more intense, and yet: the pace quickens. In Chamonix, the arrival is joyful. A visible relief, a shared pride. For some, it's a deliverance. For others, the simple feeling of having held the line.
A way to listen to the relief
QUATORZE isn't looking for the perfect line or performance. What they're pursuing is the experience of an uncertain path. The pleasure of moving forward without knowing everything, of making choices along the way, of holding together within that margin. Their track tells this story: a desire for adventure more than control.
